Announcement regarding Something Wicked In Wisconsin

I regret to announce that Something Wicked in Wisconsin will no longer be available for download. To make a long story short and to keep things civil, certain parties were very displeased all around with how everything went down. I invested a descent amount of my time and some money into the idea, so I, more than anyone, regret that things played out this way. If you did get a physical copy of the album or downloaded it before I removed the link and you like the artist that you hear on the album please, check out their sites and show them love.

Something Wicked In Wisconsin: Volume 1

Big news tonight people. I've just finished the final mixing for a brand new underground compilation featuring nothing but Wisconsin artist for Halloween. The album features 14 tracks with 12 different artist putting down some wicked shit. I even went and remade a old Dark Ninjas track by the name of "So Many Dead" for the occasion and am also releasing a collab with my old friend Mo Foley called "Wicked as it Comes!". Download the album and the full artwork from Mega Upload here! (Or click the big image below)

On a personal note I'd like to say that earlier this week I turned the big 2-4. I started this shit when I was the ripe young age of 16, meaning I'm going on a solid 8 years of rhyming. Enjoy the compilation album, and be on the look out for the mixtape and more soon!

Peace out,
-Budz'

Site Updates

First off want to thank everyone at the show on the 9th. I have a lil recap I wrote for it, going on over a week late now with uploading it, but I'll see if it isn't worth putting up sometime before Monday.

In other news, you may notice some minor updates on both BudzMcGee.com and DarkNinjas.com! First is the header graphics at the top of every page. Been meaning to do that for a while (so long I actually forgot I made graphics for it a while ago in the case of DN!). Also, the DN home page has been edited to look best on even more monitor screen sizes than ever before. No more 20 feet of blue background on the right side if you have a widescreen monitor like myself. Would of done it sooner had I realized how easy it would be to actually do.

In other news there should be one more track joining the already 2 freshly uploaded tracks on Myspace soon. Additionally it is official, next week I being the final recording process for Eve of a Revolution. I have the new mic, everything is written, it is time to finish it once and for all. The track list will likely be drastically different then what was posted before, but I think it is for the better. I still can't name a date though because I'm still trying to find two more collaborating artist for the album. More info soon.

Also start looking for updates from Multi-Man soon as well as a whole shit ton of photos from the show last Wednesday.

Peace out,
-Budz'

Welcome BudzMcGee.com!

After a while of debating how to do this I came to what I think is the best solution. BudzMcGee.com and DarkNinjas.com will link to the same page, from there people can choose which site to go to. The sites will share ALOT of content, including the news articles on this very page. Ultimately this seemed like the best way to finally get up a seperate site for myself while also not forgoing the Dark Ninjas name completely.

Hopefully this will work.

Peace out,
-Budz'

You can now find 2 Xbox 360 themes under the Wallpaper section in the Flavor section. Or, if you're lazy, get them directly from this news post for now.

Eve of Revolution Update and Info

In an attempt to keep updating more often I thought I would go ahead and give some more details about the comming mixtape. Today we are premiering the tentative cover/art work for the ablum as well as the tentative track listing.

Click the thumbnail for a much larger view of the album art work

Confused about the "exclusive bonus tracks"? Well here is the plan. The mixtape half of the album will still be released for free on the website when the album is finished, but as a special bonus to anyone who buys a hard copy of the album, they will get enough bonus tracks to fill a seperate EP. (And there is the strong possibility of a bonus track in the bonus track section, it will honestly depend if there is enough space left on the album, what with 19 tracks already planned.) The hard copy, at the moment, I'm hoping will go for about $5-7. I plan to be selling this mostly at shows after the album is released... thats right shows. More details when that time comes.

Peace out,
-Budz'

If This Were My Job...

I'd definetly be fired by now. As anyone who may actually be reading this, of which I expect few are at this point, might of guessed the whole mixtape has been pushed back and then back some more and then back a little bit further. Fact of the matter is that it pretty much just needs to be recorded, but without a proper place to do so for pretty much the last six months nothing has happened. I hope to change this soon, and add a lot of new content to the site and the myspace in doing so. The most notable of which is the plan to film the recording process from now on. These "Studio Sessions" will give both a taste of songs being worked on both for the mixtape but collabs and other projects. I have come a long way from when I started this in high school, both musically and personally. The evolution from Bunny Man to Budz alone could fill up pages. All that matters though is that I am getting back on that microphone soon, and in the coming months there will be a completely new Budz McGee at work.

The hustle starts soon; I am looking at a future that includes more music and the start of a live performance career. I do not know where the next year will take me physically, but I have hopes and goals where it will lead me creatively. In addition to simply trying to start my own music back up, I am also looking to start facilitating the success of several people around me with the years of viewing this game I have accumulated. I have seen artist come and go, some might say the same for me and the Dark Ninjas as a whole; I personally don't believe we've come to the party yet though, and when I/we do you'll know it.

More than ever I have a group of friends, both talented and interested to make something of a skill I always have felt I stumbled into and I have had the opportunity to work with some awesome artist along the way. (5:am, Da Kippa, Intrinzik, and Greenhand to name a few) My goal is to improve upon my past successes and failure, and hopefully prove to both all of you and myself that I can infact do this, and do this well.

More to come soon.

Peace out,
-Budz'

First post of 08'

And it's a solid month late...

Greetings once again from your friendly neighberhood activist, yours truely, the B-U-D-Z. I know around here we have a tradition of not making post for a really long time, then promising everything will be more common place when we do, then not doing it; hopefully I won't be doing that again. And by that I mean hopefully I can keep this a bit more updated than I used to, one of my many resolutions for this year.

So lets get into some news shall we? Obviously I am a bit behind schedule with my mixtape. My original plans were to kind of just shoot the sucker out in a month or two using some lyrics I had written but never found a song for, recycling some lyrics from songs that ended up on the cutting room floor, etc. What I found out though once I got going was that working with high quality beats I was turning up the heat myself. Suddenly using old lyrics seemed unworthy and I began to write an entire album from scratch. The process has churned out some of the best tracks I have ever made, and has really inspired me to do the best possible job on this still ultimately free album. The downside though is this means taking more time on it.

This was all made even harder when my laptop, which is essentially my studio, crashed in early December. First I attempted to convert my PC into the new studio with no luck, I eventually had to break down and by a new hard drive, which took a while to arrive due to the holidays, and then re-install all the software (Including about 6 years of windows updates) onto the damn machine which added even more time. It now appears to be running well, and I will be doing my first recording on the new hard-drive (which is slightly faster) in the coming week.

I have a couple of tracks with fellow underground Wisconsin artist, and old friend, Mo Foley in the works right now, as well as two tracks with Big C, a track for DJ Electro's mixtape "Bumpin 10 feet under" and a verse on a super collab for the same project. (My buddy Special Agent C and I will also be helping with the CD art/package, which will be very pimp when it is all said and done)

Oh and if you haven't already, go check out the first single for the Eve of a Revolution Mixtape, "Raise Your Fist In The Air" on the Dark Ninjas myspace page!

Finally Some News

It wouldn't be Dark Ninjas.com if the updates didn't come almost monthly now would it. We've had some site issues lately so the site was down for a bit then unable to be updated for a bit longer, but by the time you're reading this everything is good to go again.

In site news I added the Bio for Odic Khan, check that out here. Kid I've known for a while now and we did a track together called Bushism. Think you can guess the subject matter. You'll find that track as well as many others featuring a whole shit ton of talented mother fuckers on the "Dark Ninjas Project" album.

I also updated 5:am's bio to include todays major news announcement; an exclusive online track from me and 5:am called Wannabe!

A carpet Bombing of Wackness
www.Myspace.com/DarkNinjas

www.Myspace.com/5am203

Make sure you check out that carpet bombing of wackness.

The other big news item this week is the announcement of my solo project. Now I've been advertising on the left side of the site here for a while about the "And a Revolution Occurs" album, but what I've never said before is that AaRO is acctually just volume 2 in a 3 album struggle for freedom!

Thats right, the first volume, "Eve of a Revolution" should be available by the end of the summer absolutely free! Thats right, I said free. EoaR, unlike AaRO will be a mixtape of some of the hottest mainstream beats, a few old school beats, and a few beats taken from some of the undergrounds hottest producers. The plan is to release this album before the Dark Ninjas Project, then comes the verbal assault that is "And a Revolution Occurs." The third volume is to be named at a later date and time.

Peace out,
-Budz'

Over Due Update

So it has been way too long since an update of any significant meaning. I wish DN could be my only responsibility in life, but sadly it is far from true and we often fall a bit behind in keeping you guys "in the know" around here. With that in mind, here is the best I can do to update you on whats new. (That kind of rhymed)

Still trying to put together the finshing touches on the "wannabe" track, basically just need 5:am's verse, again, to make it 100%. If things don't get done in the next week I'll probably just release a more ghetto quality, but still overflowing with freshness version of our "carpet bombing of whackness" sometime soon.

An old acquiantance of ours has come back around, this time instead of rapping he's producing, and I'm hopefull that a couple of his tracks combined with me and a few other artist vocals may prove to be the final chapter in the production of "The Dark Ninjas Project."

On that note, me and Big C are hoping to collab a few more times in the final half of this process. We already have two tracks planned, one a very offensive (the way I like it) take on the bible's use throughout history, and the other a track we are possibliy doing for a friend of mine's indie movie "Take a Shot" called "Light up the Room." The song should appear on the album either way, but we will keep you informed if it becomes part of the movie.

On the note of movies, I will be partaking in a contest called 48 hr film the weekend of the 20th in Madison, Wisconsin. I am looking for any artist that may be intersted in having their music in the film. We are looking for all types, but the music MUST belong entirely to you and you will have to sign a release form giving us permission to use it. Time is essential, so if you are intersted, hit me up at Budz@darkninjas.com or drop me a line on myspace at www.Myspace.com/DarkNinjas.

Peace out,
-Budz'

Why We Fight!

Yo, what up fools? Budz here, been on a bit of a hiatus the last month or so, which is really just a fancy way to say been to busy to do shit. Got a few new banging beats done, going to be matching them up with artist I think can do the best, most dope, job on them, and hopefully be cutting a few new tracks soon.

Thought I'd start off by telling all of you to check out this amazing documentary I was privy to watching the other day. It's called Why We Fight, and it examines the imperiallistic mind-set of America in about the most balanced way anyone can tell us how fucked up we all are. The web page is http://www.sonyclassics.com/whywefight, so go check it out then tell a friend.

You may, or may not, notice a few small changes with the whole Dark Ninjas thing too. Original plans to release both a Budz' McGee solo album and the Dark Ninjas album may be a bit too much to accomplish in my already hectic schedule. So what you may see is an album that makes a bit more sense to the casual observer. So don't be surprised if you see "Budz' McGee presents Dark Ninjas - Dark Ninjas Project" come album time. There'll be a couple of solo tracks mixed in with all the collabs. Either way, it'll come hard.

Lastly, be on the look out soon for a brand new track that may only be online, I haven't yet decided. A little thing I did with 5:am called "Wannabe" aimed at a few too many individuals to call it a battle track, so we'll just call it a "carpet bombing of whackness".

Peace out,
-Budz'
